Lenny teaches the alphabet through “Letter of the Week”
Lenny teaches the letters through “Letter of the Week” in which the children focus on one letter of the alphabet for the whole week. Lenny starts with the letter Aa at the beginning of the year and proceeds in alphabetical order accordingly. For example, the following week they study the letter Bb, the next week they study the letter Cc, etc.
Why this lesson falls short for some children...
Rather than teaching one letter at a time, children should learn all the letters together as they are used in actual reading and writing contexts.
Also, teaching Letter of the Week can be impractical and inefficient. Given that there are twenty-six letters in the alphabet and approximately forty weeks of school, it would take more than half the school year just to introduce the entire alphabet.
Learn to teach this lesson properly
- Teach all the letters together as they are used in actual reading and writing contexts, instead of teaching one letter at a time.
